Layered Leaves September 2017 Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternate Ideas

The September 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit was fun to play with! I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you today. I created all that I will be sharing today (and this coming Thursday!) with the contents of one kit and a few extra supplies/products which I have listed below and linked to my online store.

A Great Card To Show Off Lots Of Paper Patterns

Painted Autumn is one of THE most popular suites in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.

The stamp set alone lends itself to such versatility. Have you seen the wreath cards I've made (on 9/15/17 and on 9/18/17)? And check out this card where that same image becomes a hedgehog.

Then... there are the drop-dead gorgeous designer papers! This is one of those packs that you may want to hoard, so maybe you should buy at least two. ;) Here is a very easy but handsome Painted Autumn "grid" card that you can recreate. AND it displays a small piece from nine of the patterns.

I added Copper Metallic Thread in this second version. And I flipped some of the designer paper pieces over to give the card a less "random" look.

Here are the details.

Supplies (Below is another product list with images of each that are linked to my online store.):

• Stamps: Painted Harvest (144783)
• Paper:
  • Cajun Craze cardstock (119684): 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” folded in half for the card base
  • Very Vanilla cardstock (101650): 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” for the inside of the card
  • Early Espresso cardstock (119686): 3-1/2” x 3-1/2”
  • Painted Autumn designer paper (144613): 9 squares that are 1” x 1” each
  • (Optional) Copper Metallic Thread (141696): about 30”
• Ink: 126965 Cajun Craze, 126974 Early Espresso
• Other: 126889 Stampin’ Trimmer, 103579 Paper Snips, 104332 SNAIL Adhesive, 104430 Dimensionals

Instructions:

1. Decide on a pattern you’d like your designer paper squares to have. Lay them out on your 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” Early Espresso piece so they are spaced nicely. Then attach one at a time with SNAIL. Hints: If you put just a little SNAIL on each piece initially, you will be able to move the paper again later if it's not in the right spot. I also started adhering my corner squares first.
2. (Optional) Put some SNAIL under the bottom left corner and upper right corner. Attach loops of Copper metallic thread so the thread loops will peek out.
3. Position the 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” Early Espresso piece over the Cajun Craze card base without attaching yet. Use this piece as a guide and stamp the outline leaves image in Cajun Craze ink onto the card base so it will appear to be coming out from behind in the upper right and lower left corners.
4. Attach the Early Espresso piece to the card front using Dimensionals.
5. Stamp the outside and inside sentiments with Early Espresso ink onto the card front and onto the 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” Very Vanilla piece.
6. Attach the 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” Very Vanilla piece to the inside of the card.
7. Stamp one more cluster of leaves on the left inner panel.

Thailand Achievers Blog Hop July 2017: Masculine Pocket Card

 

Welcome to the last official Thailand Achievers Blog Hop. We're not really ending though, because in October we kick off 12 months of ALASKA Achievers hops! :) Yep! That's the next trip that many of us earned (and a few are still trying to earn...we have until the last day of September).

The theme for this month is: Holiday Catalog Favorites. So follow along and check out all the other blogs in the hop (click on the names of other participants in the list below) so you can see some fabulous cards and projects incorporating new stamp sets and products from the 2017 Holiday Catalog.

Today I have a handsome "north woods" pocket card to share. The pocket is on the inside and can hold a gift card, cash, tickets, a private love note, etc...

To make things easier, I have a 20-minute how-to video for you to view that I recorded live on Facebook last week. (Just keep in mind that is was recorded live. That will explain why I am talking with a few during the recording.)

Here are those measurements again so you can just copy and paste and reproduce this card right away...

Measurements:

• Basic Black cardstock: 11" x 4-1/4" scored at 2-1/4" and 5-1/2"
• Pear Pizzazz cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4"
• Old Olive cardstock: scraps for die-cutting trees and leaves
• Copper Foil paper: scraps for punching out deer and label piece
• Whisper White cardstock: scraps for stamping and punching out label piece
• Merry Little Christmas designer paper (black & white plaid design): 4" x 3"...4" x 2"...4" x 1" (all from the same 4" x 6" piece)
• Old Olive 1/8" Sheer ribbon: ~ 18"

By the way, it was a total coincidence that my nail polish matched! LOL I didn't plan that at all.

Such Fantastic Holiday Catalog Swap Cards

I recently participated in two card swaps. One swap was made up of 40 people and we had to have 2 sets of 39 cards each in that swap. And the other was made up of 16 people...2 sets of 15 each. 108 cards total!

These were the 4 sets of cards I contributed to those swaps. I've shared each of these already here in my blog. Check them out! This first bundle of cards are the wreath cards I shared yesterday.

This second bundle contains those origami twist fold cards I shared on September 7th. (Thia post includes a how-to video.)

This z-fold card was featured in my August 24th post.

And these green ones were shared on September 2nd. (My favorite!)

It was a lot of work putting these together. But it was worth it, because I got a ton of fabulous cards in return. (Thankfully I had my friend, Vicki Spicer and my hubby, Tim to assist me one day!) Here are just a few of the cards I got back.

This first one was made by Becky Edson. She really did a great job showing off the Year of Cheer suite of products.

The drink on this card looks delicious! Lynn Feldkamp created it using the Merry Café stamp set, the Coffee Cup Framelits and the Quilted Christmas designer paper.

Guessing you've seen the new Cat Punch? Cathy Seal swapped this adorable card. She got the layout idea from a card Janet Wakeland had made.

This pretty card by Terri Gaines features the Painted Autumn designer paper and the Labels of Love stamp set.

Sandy Carlson shows how to make simplicity beautiful in this stunning card that shows off the Merry Little Christmas designer paper and the Watercolor Christmas stamp set.

I'm a big fan of the Merry Music designer paper and the Bethlehem Edgelits, so of course I love this one made by Jolene Jacobs. Such a stunning layout.

I adored this card by Juliann Knudsen. I even CASED it to create a couple scrapbook pages that I'll be sharing soon. This just proves that you can make the flowers in that Painted Harvest stamp set any color you wish.

This center step fun fold card by Carol Rosengren is so perfect in black & white. The images and dies from this Hearts Come Home bundle are so amazing that you honestly don't need anything else.

This fun Halloween card was made by Sue Lehrer.

I like that she used the Lemon Lime Twist color with these teeth from the Creep it Real stamp set. And then she made them stand out more by painting on some Wink of Stella.

This next swap was designed by Shari Caspers. I love that color combination! And if you own the Big Shot for die-cutting and embossing, these Layering Ovals Dies and the Stitched Shapes Framelits are must-haves!

Ta-da!!! I LOVE these bendi fold cards!! Have you seen them yet? This beautiful swap was from Jan Viktora. She used the Hearts Come Home bundle and the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Dies.

And this last swap card using the Quilt Builder Framelits, the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, and the One Big Meaning stamp set was made by Brenda Sprenger!

There were so many other great cards, but hopefully you gained some inspiration from the few swaps I shared.

These last two cards were not part of the swap, but my friend Cheryl Lee gave them to me recently and I had to show them off! Aren't they amazing!? For this diorama card, she used the Carols of Christmas bundle and the Layering Ovals Dies.

And for this one she used the Daisy punch and the Beautiful You stamp set.

I'm in love with all these cards, and I'm so glad you got a chance to see them! Enjoy your weekend!

Painted Harvest Wreath Card

Did you know you can turn the sunflower image from the Painted Harvest stamp set into a wreath?!

This is a fairly simple card to recreate. In fact it's so quick and simple that I made a bunch of them as swaps recently. (You'll want to stop back tomorrow to see some of my favorite swap cards I got back.)

Here are some details for recreating this one. (A full product list linked to my online store is below.)

Measurements:

• Early Espresso Cardstock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" folded in half for the card base
• Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4" for the inside...and scrap for stamping and punching out the wreath piece
• Real Red Cardstock: 3-1/4" x 3-1/4"
• Wood Textures Designer Paper: 3" x 3"
• Real Red 1/8" Ribbon: about 7"
• Very Vanilla Lace Trim: 3-1/4"

Directions:

• Stamp the smaller, more detailed sunflower image in Garden Green ink onto Very Vanilla scrap. Punch out.
• Stamp the berries and add a bow with a Glue Dot.
• Stamp the tree rings with Early Espresso ink onto the front of the Early Espresso card.
• Attach the designer paper to the Real Red using SNAIL. Put adhesive on the back bottom edge of the Real Red and attach the Lace Trim so it peeks out in the front evenly. Then attach this whole thing to the front of the card.
• Attach the wreath layer to the front using Dimensionals.
• Stamp a sentiment if you wish (mine is blank) to the 4" x 5-1/4" Very Vanilla piece and add to the inside of the card.
